The Illinois agriculture industry employs one in four people either directly or indirectly. For more than 28 years, the Illinois State Treasurer's Office has been providing opportunities for Illinois farmers to thrive through the Ag Invest program.

Ag Invest partners with approved financial institutions thereby assisting the banks to provide qualified farmers and agriculture professionals below-market rate loans to start or enhance their farm operations. The reduced interest rate lowers the overall cost to enhance the farmer's farm or alternative agriculture business. The loans provided by the financial institution are used to purchase equipment, for construction or for cost related to traditional crop production and alternative activities. Since 2008, Ag Invest has loaned more than $1 billion in annual and long term loans, making Ag Invest one of the most expansive loan programs in the nation.
